Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Once again we have come to the end of another successful term, thanks to the efforts of the Sirius College family.

With the completion of the assessments, I am hopeful that all of our students will receive the good grades they have deserved with their hard work.

Last Sunday, we had the first round of 2017 academic year Entrance Exams. We had many potential Kindergarten students come in for their exam. The second round of Entrance Exams will be held in Term 3. If you or anyone you know is willing to apply, please fill online application form or contact the Office to place an application.

The Australia's Biggest Breakfast event held by Sirius College was a great success. The money we collected will help the Cancer Council's vital research, prevention programs and support services. I would like to thank everyone for their contribution towards this breakfast which represented a much greater good.

It is currently a time of year when a lot of viruses are spreading around. It is very important that children are kept at home when they are sick, because otherwise, they will be spreading it to others around them at school and making the recovery process much more difficult.

It is a serious concern and we strongly urge you take your child to a doctor, especially if they have a fever, runny nose, diarrhoea, vomiting, muscular pain and/or cough. Students with these symptoms will be sent home and will not be permitted to return to school until they have recovered. It is also required that you provide a medical certificate explaining that the child is safe to return to school. Please understand that such measures are necessary to ensure the wellbeing of all of our students.

Children need to be encouraged to continue to take appropriate precautions: cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing and washing hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based hand gel (which can be placed into children's bags to be used throughout the day), including after contact with soiled tissues, after blowing their nose or coughing, before eating, and after going to the toilet.

As Sirius College, it is our duty to guarantee the wellbeing of all our students and staff, which is why we need to take the above measures with this issue. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I would like to wish all students, parents/guardians and staff a safe and happy holiday!

We look forward to seeing all students rested and ready for the start of Term 3 on Tuesday 11th of July 2016.
